Growing Corn

So, this term Emma is learnign all about farms and the various products that come from farms. The class had to pick their favourite fruit or vegetable and show it to the lcass. They also had to do a presentation on their favourite item for show and tell. Emma's presentation went quite well - she chose corn. I thought it might be interesting and fun for her if we tried to grow some corn at home. So, I bought some seeds and set about germinating them. Here is our progress so far:

Day 10
So now we are going to transplant them into a raised garden bed outside. Hopefully they will survive! I am a bit worried as it's not really corn growing season, but here goes! Wish us luck! We will keep you posted.

Happy Heart Award

In the first week of the new term, Emma was awarded with her Happy Heart award. This award is given to students who achieve 10 stamps throughout the term for good behaviour. Each 10 stamps gets students onto a level - so Emma is on the Bronze level. Her next 10 stamps will be silver, then gold. She has already schieved one stamp for her silver level. Yah Emma!

Adelaide

Week 2 of the school holidays saw us head to Adelaide to see where Wayne had set up his batchelor pad and visit friends. We had a great week and we were sad to leave. During our time there, we visited the Beerenberg Starwberry Farm and picked strawberries straight from the paddock - yum! We also celebrated Lucy's 2nd birthday with a visit to Bubbles with friends. The girls and I headed into the city for a day of culture and visited the museum.
